After the FIFA World Cup 2022, legendary French footballer and coach Zinedine Zidane declined offers from three national teams.

Zidane has been without a team since the end of his second stint as Real Madrid’s manager in 2021. Brazil, Portugal, and the United States all contacted the mastermind following the FIFA World Cup, according to L’Equipe.

The former midfielder, though, turned down each and every offer.

After the World Cup, Zidane had his sights set on taking over as coach of the French national team. But Didier Deschamps, who has guided France to the final in each of the last two World Cups, said on Saturday that he will continue as manager of the squad through the 2026 tournament.

After the World Cup in Qatar, when France, the defending champions, fell to Argentina in a nail-biting final on December 18, Deschamps’ contract came to an end.

According to rumours, Deschamps insisted on being in command until the 2018 FIFA World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico despite the fact that FFF president Noel Le Graet only planned to give him a two-year extension until the 2024 European Championship.

After Gregg Berhalter’s contract with the USA expired at the end of 2022, the manager’s position is open. Brazil coach Tite resigned after his country’s elimination from the FIFA World Cup following a defeat to Croatia in the quarterfinal at the Education City Stadium.

Following Portugal’s shocking FIFA World Cup quarterfinal loss to Morocco, Fernando Santos resigned as the team’s coach.

It should be recalled that Zidane was initially appointed Real Madrid’s head coach in January 2016, following Rafael Benitez’s dismissal as the club’s first-team coach. During his tenure at the Santiago Bernabeu, he won nine trophies, including three straight UEFA Champions League championships.

After the three-peat in 2018, he departed the club before coming back in March 2019 to save a Madrid team that was in trouble. Even though he won La Liga in his second season, he was unable to replicate his success on a continental scale. As a result, after the conclusion of the 2020-21 campaign, he left again.
