Mohammad Yousuf, the batting coach for Pakistan, will not accompany the national team to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for the three-match T20I series against Afghanistan.

Yousuf, according to sources, is unavailable for personal reasons.

Under the administration of Ramiz Raja, Yousuf’s appointment was decided series by series. The batting coach at the National High-Performance Centre (NHPC) in Lahore is his permanent position.

It should be noted that the Pakistan cricket team will depart Lahore later today for Dubai.

This month, the schedule for the series between Pakistan and Afghanistan was changed.

The previous schedule had the contests taking place at Sharjah Cricket Stadium on March 25, 27, and 29. They will now, however, occur on March 24, 26, and 27.

ACB stated, “Afghanistan Cricket Board and Pakistan Cricket Board have jointly agreed to make slight tweaks to the itinerary of Afghanistan’s home three-match T2OI series against Pakistan. The start of the series is brought forward by a day and will now start on March 24, with the last two games to be played on March 26 and 27 in Sharjah, UAE,”

“The changes in itinerary are made due to the unavailability of the Hawk-Eye Technology for the previously agreed upon dates. The two boards have agreed upon the changes in itinerary to ensure all the necessary broadcast technologies are available for the inaugural T20I series between the two sides.”

In the past, instead of playing T20Is, both teams were supposed to play a three-match ODI series this year. However, after Sethi and ACB officials met, the format was changed because Pakistan and Afghanistan already qualified for the 2023 ODI World Cup in India.

Sethi stated at a press conference in January, “I met with the executive members of Afghanistan Cricket Board and they were asking us to play a (ODI) series but we didn’t find any attraction playing the series.”

“The primary reason for this is that the series was intended to earn points for the Super League, and now it doesn’t matter who wins. Therefore, subject to approval from the government, we agreed to play three T20Is in Sharjah immediately following the PSL. We will split equally 50 percent of the series’ revenue. Additionally, we will outsource the production jointly,” he added.
