Captain Babar Azam of Peshawar Zalmi became the player with the most runs scored in the eighth season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) during today’s second elimination match against the Lahore Qalandars at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
Babar scored his 37th run to surpass Mohammad Rizwan, the captain of Multan Sultans, and become the tournament’s highest run scorer.
Rashid Khan dismissed the right-handed batter after he scored 42 runs in 36 deliveries. In his 11 matches thus far, he has scored 522 runs.
Babar has scored over 500 runs twice in the PSL. The right-handed batter scored 554 runs earlier in PSL 6. Rizwan is the only batter in PSL history to score more than 500 runs in all three seasons.
Peshawar had scored 113 runs in 13.2 overs when this story was first published.
Peshawar received support from Babar and Mohammad Haris following their earlier loss to Saim Ayub (9). Peshawar went from 15-1 to 104-1 in 11.2 overs thanks to their combined 89 runs.
In the 12th over, Rashid gave Lahore the crucial breakthrough they needed. He helped his team make an impressive comeback by taking wickets of Babar and Tom Kohler-Cadmore simultaneously.
