Facing a precarious situation at 101 for three after being asked to bat first, Samson and Varma showcased exceptional awareness of the game’s demands. Their 116-run partnership for the fourth wicket became the cornerstone of India’s recovery, founded on pragmatism and a meticulous approach to shot selection.
