Jose Mourinho appears to have swiftly found his next destination in the football world. Reports from Saudi Arabia suggest that Mourinho has reached a verbal agreement to take on the role of the new manager at Al-Shabab, a Saudi Pro League club.

Mourinho’s departure from Roma earlier this week opened up new possibilities for the seasoned coach, who has been vocal about his interest in managing in the Saudi Pro League. Despite turning down a lucrative offer from Al-Hilal during his time with Roma, Mourinho seems poised to make a move to Al-Shabab.

According to Saudi-owned newspaper Asharq Al-Awsat, Mourinho conducted a Zoom meeting with Al-Shabab’s sporting director, Domenico Tite, on Thursday, where they reportedly reached an agreement for Mourinho to become the club’s new manager. The report suggests that Mourinho is expected to arrive in Saudi Arabia in the coming days, pending the finalization of the deal.

The managerial move to Al-Shabab comes at a time when the club is without a leader, having parted ways with ex-Liverpool star Igor Biscan last month. Al-Shabab, currently positioned 11th in the Saudi Pro League, boasts notable players such as former Atletico Madrid star Yannick Carrasco and ex-Sevilla playmaker Ever Banega.

Mourinho, known for his tactical prowess and success at various top clubs, is reportedly eyeing significant international signings for Al-Shabab in the upcoming summer transfer window. This move aligns with his earlier statements expressing anticipation about managing in Saudi Arabia, revealing in an interview last year, “I will go to Saudi Arabia in some free time, but I am convinced that I will work there.”

As the football world awaits the official confirmation of Mourinho’s appointment, it seems the renowned manager is set to embark on a new chapter in his coaching career with Al-Shabab in the competitive landscape of Saudi football.
