Shan Masood, the top-order hitter for Pakistan, scored his 1000th run in the County Championship 2022 on Sunday.

Shan, 32, attained this milestone with an innings of 46 during Derbyshire’s first innings against Sussex. He is the first player in this year’s county championship season to reach 100 runs.

In 12 County Championship innings, the left-handed batter has scored 1037 runs, including three centuries and four half-centuries.
In addition, he scored 2,000 professional runs in all formats of the game in 2022, making him the fifth Pakistani after Saeed Anwar, Mohammad Yousuf, Inzamam ul Haq, and Babar Azam to do so in a calendar year.
Mohammad Yousuf had accomplished this three times.
In addition to his 1037 first-class runs, Shan has the most runs in Twenty20 cricket this year with 994. His 994 T20 runs are comprised of 478 PSL runs and 516 T20 blast runs.
Shan has scored 2031 runs in 37 professional cricket innings in 2022. He has only played T20 and First Class cricket thus far and has yet to play a List A match in 2022.

Shan appears to be on track to exceed Kumar Sangakkara’s record of most professional runs across all formats of the game in a calendar year. The Pakistani batsman needs to score another 838 runs across all formats this year to beat Sangakkara’s total.
