Have you ever dreamt of living and enjoying a meal in a space hotel? This thing is actually becoming true!
As per the details, work on the world’s first space hotel is likely due to begin in low Earth orbit in 2025.
According to the international news agency, the hotel will be based on a large circle and will rotate to generate artificial gravity that will be set at a similar level to the gravity found on the surface of the moon.
The space hotel will feature a cinema, restaurants, spa, a cruise ship, and room for 400 people. It has been developed by the Orbital Assembly Corporation (OAC). It is likely to be made operational as early as 2027 with the infrastructure built in orbit around the Earth.
Sources said that the hotel will feature a series of pods attached to the outside of the rotating ring and some of these pods could be sold to the likes of NASA and ESA for research purposes.
OAC said that build costs are getting less expensive due to reusable vehicles such as SpaceX Falcon 9 and the future Starship.
The first look of the hotel has been revealed. The official website of OAC explained, “Voyager Station is a rotating space station designed to produce varying levels of artificial gravity by increasing or decreasing the rate of rotation. Artificial, or simulated, gravity is essential to long term habitation in space”.
The hotel’s website explained that this has been designed to mix business with pleasure. National space agencies will be accommodated/ But space tourists who want to experience life in space
“with the comfort of low gravity and the feel of a luxury hotel” can join. However, only the selected people will be allowed to have a lifetime experience. The website says that a trip to space can “cost up to $25 million”.
