OPPO recently unveiled a new edition of the entry-level A16 in Netherlands. The Oppo A16s is a successor to the Oppo A15s and a slight refresh of the A16. It should be available in other regions soon, including Pakistan, where the A16 series is still unavailable.

The Oppo A16s is just an Oppo A16 with NFC payment capability. To recap, we’re looking at a 6.52″ display with a notch. It’s an IPS display with a 720P resolution and a 20:9 aspect ratio. Moreover, there are no current-gen features, such as a fast refresh rate or responsive touch sampling.

Flip the Oppo A16s over to reveal a plastic shell and a rectangle-shaped camera unit. The backplate is available in two colours: Crystal Black and Pearl Blue, both of which are generic paint finishes.

Three rear-facing lenses and one front camera make up the camera system of the new Oppo smartphone for 2021. A 13MP f/2.2 lens, a 2MP macro camera, and a 2MP portrait sensor make up the triple camera array. The notch houses an 8-megapixel camera; a basic entry-level camera setup.

The MediaTek Helio G35 (an old-gen low-performance 4G chip) and a 5000 mAh battery is powering the A16s. However, there is no support for fast charging.  You get 4GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable internal storage.

ColorOS11, which is based on Android 11, is ready to use right out of the box on the Oppo A16s. The base version costs 149 Euros (about Rs. 28,700).
