Samsung phones still exploding?

Exploding smartphones brought on by dead batteries are not uncommon.

According to tech YouTuber MrWhoseTheBoss, Samsung’s bad reputation for exploding cellphones seems to be here to stay.

Arun Maini, a YouTuber, discovered that the batteries in several Samsung devices he owned had suddenly enlarged.

Some of them had even burst into flames from the back, leaving the phone entirely burned.

Both new and old phones, such as the Galaxy Z Fold 2, Galaxy S20 FE, Galaxy S9, Galaxy S10, and others, experienced this.

The important thing, in this case, was that only Samsung phones had burst, with no indication that phones from other brands had been harmed.

These phones were only seldom used for battery testing, reviews, and unboxing videos.

The phones sat idle on shelves for the remainder of the period, with their screens off.

Approaching Samsung

When the YouTuber informed Samsung of his discoveries, the corporation demanded that he deliver it every broken phone.

After that, Maini made numerous attempts to contact Samsung but was always met with the response, “we will get back to you when we get new updates.”

This went on for several weeks.

Maini contacted other tech-related YouTubers who also own a variety of cellphones. The fact that numerous of their Samsung phones had exploded was confirmed.

In comparison to other brands, Samsung phones had this issue far more frequently.

JerryRigEverything on YouTube outlined the underlying cause of this problem.

According to his idea, while the phone is not in use, the electrolyte substance in the battery slowly evaporates over time.

As a result, a gas is produced, creating swelling that eventually breaks through and destroys the battery entirely.

Even though it seems like the risk mainly applies to recently inactive phones, the situation is nevertheless concerning.

Therefore, we advise checking on any old Samsung phones you may have laying around.
