Snapchat has added purple lock to its Stories feature

• Snapchat’s Stories now have a purple lock.
• This means that only a select group of people can view a friend’s story.
• The lock will turn grey once you’ve viewed the story in question.

Snapchat uses colours to convey messages to its users. Ten years ago, Snapchat introduced the Stories feature to the social media world. Since it has been replicated by competing services, it must be one of the most sought-after aspects of the platform.

People can share their daily highlights on the site for only a day, and the stories disappear afterwards. Plus, it added more features to the stories, such as the ability to share a Story with a specific group of Snapchat friends or make a Story that only a few people can see.

On the other hand, the platform is extremely discreet in comparison to others. Snapchat has responded by adding a purple lock to its Story feature.
Whether you’re looking at a friend’s profile in the Chat tab or the Stories tab on Snapchat, the grey ring indicates that you’ve already seen that friend’s story, while the blue or purple ring indicates that you haven’t yet seen that friend’s story. Some users, however, get very perplexed because some stories have both a purple ring and a lock.

as a result, Snapchat’s locked stories will be purple. It provides users with more options for deciding who sees their photos in Snapchat.

Before the introduction of private stories, you either had to completely block someone on Snapchat or send each recipient a separate snap. With the new private stories feature, you can choose exactly who sees the stories you write.

Now, if you see a purple lock on a friend’s Snapchat story, it means that only a select group of people are able to view it, and that you haven’t yet viewed the story in question (the lock will turn grey once you’ve done so).
