WhatsApp to introduce AI photo editor
Renowned for its integration of machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI), WhatsApp...
WhatsApp, a messaging platform owned by Meta and used worldwide, is reportedly developing a feature that will enable users to send all future media in either HD or standard quality.
This feature seems to be an enhancement of WhatsApp’s existing capability that allows the sending of HD media from the app’s media sharing interface. A deeper investigation by Gadgets360 revealed that the new feature will introduce a setting within WhatsApp’s media-sharing options, allowing users to decide if they want all future media to be sent in HD or Standard quality.
Once this preference is selected, the app will apply it to all future media-based messages sent by the user. In addition to this, the most recent feature released by WhatsApp is the ability to pin up to three messages in each individual or group chat.
As per WABetaInfo, this feature is currently available on the beta version of WhatsApp for Android 2.24.7.17 build, which the company started rolling out earlier this week through the Google Play Beta Program. This feature will save users from having to decide on the upload quality of images/videos each time they send a message containing media, ultimately saving time. The screenshot added below shows the options added within the Storage and data menu for the new media upload Settings.
Last year, WhatsApp announced a similar feature: HD Photo Sharing, which now allows users to send videos in HD after extending support for videos.
At present, users need to manually choose between sending media in HD or standard quality each time they send photos or videos. This control is beneficial for those who prefer to send standard files and only occasionally share HD images and videos. However, for those who want to consistently use one of the options, this becomes an extra step that is not necessary.
