Pet parents consider their animals to be members of the family, so their loss is always tragic. Even if the pet parents never give up trying to get them back, the likelihood of this happening is frequently low. But in a pleasant turn of events, a cat mom was able to find her pet after it had been gone for nine years. Others have been moved to tears by their story of reunification, and you might experience the same.

Henrico Police posted the footage on their official Instagram account. “I’m no longer lost! Piper the cat is back at home with her owner after being missing for nine years—yes, you read that right—and was believed to be lost forever, they wrote. A resident called the Animal Protection Unit of the Henrico County Police on February 21, 2023, to report a stray cat that wouldn’t leave their porch. In response, an animal protection officer picked up the cat and brought it to our shelter. It was discovered that she had a microchip after being examined for one. They were able to locate the owner and give them a call after contacting local veterinarians and conducting some research, they added. The pet parent’s response to receiving the call regarding her lost cat was discussed in the next few lines. She initially found it difficult to believe, but afterwards acknowledged that Piper had been missing for nine years. She was delighted to learn this. The owner finally registered her as deceased with the microchip business after spending so much time looking for her. Piper, however, obviously had other ideas! We really are delighted to have Piper reunited with her owner, even though this white-gloved cat has had some time to herself,” they continued.

The department’s final message urged everyone to have their dogs’ microchips implanted. Also, two pictures of the cat and her pet mother were uploaded.
