PESHAWAR – Rain accompanied by wind and thunderstorms are expected across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from April 10 to April 15 with some breaks.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) predicts that a weather system called a westerly wave will move into the northern parts of Pakistan on April 10. Another stronger westerly wave is expected on April 12, affecting most parts of the country from April 13 to April 15.

During this time, areas including Chitral, Dir, Swat, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Haripur, Kohistan, Shangla, Buner, and Malakand are likely to experience rain, wind, and thunderstorms with breaks in between. From April 12 to April 15, places like Waziristan, Kohat, Lakki Marwat, Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan, Bajaur, Mohmand, Karak, Khyber, Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera, Swabi, Mardan, and Kurram may also see intermittent rain, wind, and thunderstorms. There’s a chance of heavy rainfall and hailstorms from April 13 to April 15.

  • Heavy rainfall might lead to flash floods in local streams and rivers in Dir, Swat, Chitral, Kohistan, Manshera, and along the Kabul River from April 13 to April 15.
  • Landslides could occur in vulnerable areas of Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from April 13 to April 15.
  • Windstorms, hailstorms, and lightning could damage crops, electric poles, and solar panels. Farmers should take precautions accordingly.
  • It’s advisable for tourists to avoid unnecessary travel during the wet weather.
  • Temperatures are expected to drop during this rainy spell.
