Two people have been killed and three others injured in Abu Dhabi after debris from a intercepted missile fell in a populated area, according to the Abu Dhabi Media Office.

The incident took place on Sweihan Street, where falling fragments also damaged several vehicles. Authorities have urged residents to rely only on official updates and avoid circulating unverified information, adding that more details will be released later.

Earlier on Thursday, the UAE Ministry of Defence confirmed that its air defence systems had successfully intercepted ballistic missiles and drones launched from Iran. Officials said the situation is being closely monitored.

A day earlier, on 25 March 2026, UAE forces intercepted nine drones as part of what authorities describe as ongoing Iranian attacks. Since the escalation began, air defences have reportedly neutralized 357 ballistic missiles, 15 cruise missiles, and 1,815 drones targeting the country.

The latest incident brings the total death toll to 11. Previous casualties include three UAE armed forces personnel and six foreign nationals from countries including Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh, and Palestine.

In total, 166 people have been injured so far, with cases ranging from minor to serious across different nationalities.
