The Russian military has handed over the body of an American soldier who was killed in August while participating in combat with the Ukrainian military. On Wednesday, a media channel crew saw the move take place in the Zaporizhzhia area.

Joshua Jones, a 24-year-old American, was slain in August. Jones’ father told media on Wednesday that the US State Department had informed his family about the body’s return.

The move happened close to Vasylivka. In the buffer zone between Ukrainian territory held by Russia and Ukraine, the two sides had agreed to a two-hour truce.

To move Jones’ body, a Ukrainian ambulance was stationed nearby. The Ukrainians claimed that Jones’ tattoos and other distinguishing features allowed them to identify the body. Additionally, the Russians had already given pictures of the body.

In a tearful phone call, the man’s father, Jeff Jones, told media, “We got him back!”
