UK residents struggles to heat homes as more snow falls

• Met Office has issued four yellow snow/ice alerts till the weekend.
• Forecasters predict -10C (14F) in rural areas and -6C (0F) across most of the UK.

A charity has warned that millions of people would struggle to remain warm as areas of the UK are expected to experience snow and subzero temperatures.

People must make a “vicious choice” between a chilly house and debt, according to National Energy Action.

According to the Met Office, nightly lows will be below zero and may even reach -10C (14F) in rural regions.

From now until the weekend, there are four yellow weather alerts for snow and ice in the UK.

Forecasters are expecting snow for London, the South East, and East of England on Sunday. Snow has already fallen in several areas of Scotland and northern England.

On Friday, Weather news reported that there was still snow in northern and eastern Scotland as well as around the Irish Sea beaches as of 18:00 GMT.

“Some slippery conditions for northern and western areas on Saturday with another cold night, we’re expecting temperatures as low as -6C in a few spots.”

Ms. Keith-Lucas warned that snowfall might start on Sunday in south-eastern areas and in London, with wintry weather anticipated to extend into the following week.

• Snow and ice across northern and parts of central Scotland until 12:00 on Sunday
• Ice for much of the western side of England, parts of Northern Ireland, south-west Scotland and Wales until 12:00 on Sunday

• Snow and ice across northern, central and eastern Scotland from 15:00 on Saturday until 12:00 on Sunday
• Snow and ice in London, the South East, and East of England from 09:00 on Sunday until 09:00 on Monday

A level three cold weather alert has also been issued by the UK Health Security Agency for England through Monday.
