Ukrainian forces have destroyed the last portion of a railroad bridge inside the city of Bakhmut.

The bridge has now been further bombed up after being destroyed by Ukrainian forces in August.

The controlled explosion’s footage and unverified allegations that it was an indication that Ukrainian soldiers were getting ready to leave the city were extensively circulated on social media on Friday.

The bridge was already useless, according to Ukraine’s 46th Brigade, which is presently operating in the city, which refuted the reports.

“The bridge that is now being shown as proof that we are leaving was blown up a long time ago. Those who are in Bakhmut know that. Now it was just a control shot. Don’t spread panic,” the soldiers said. “And yes, one can cross the river there without a bridge.”

The Ukrainian military claims it is holding its ground in the fight for the eastern city and is not intending to withdraw as Russian forces advance on Bakhmut.

Yevgeny Prigozhin, the founder of Wagner, declared the city to be “encircled” on Friday and urged Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to issue a withdrawal order.
