French inventor and former jet-ski champion Franky Zapata successfully crossed the English Channel on his Fly board Air.
The French inventor nicknamed the “flying Frenchman” has become the first person to achieve the magnificent feat on a jet-powered hover board.
It takes him 22 minutes to fly over the Channel and land on Saint Margaret’s Bay in southern England from Sangatte in northern France, covering roughly 34 kilometers at an average speed of 140 kilometers per hour.
It is his second attempt after his first unsuccessful attempt on July 25, 2019. He ended up falling to the sea when he tried to land on vessel to refuel his device. This time, he used a larger refueling vessel which has a larger landing area.
Franky Zapata has also broken the world record for hover boarding by flying a distance of 2,252 m (7,388 feet) at a height of 50 m.
