Early Life and Education
Mohsin Akhtar Kayani was born on 11 February 1970 in Islamabad. He belongs to the well-known and educated Kayani family.
He completed his matriculation from F.G Boys High School, Islamabad, and his intermediate from FG College for Men in 1987. He completed his graduation from the same college in 1989.
He obtained an LLB degree from the University of Punjab Lahore in 1994. He completed his M.A. in Political Science from the University of Punjab in 1996.
Mohsin Kayani secured an LLM degree from Karachi University from 2001-2003. His quest for knowledge did not stop there and he also completed his M.Sc in Pakistan Studies in 2005.
He also has a Post Graduate Diploma from the Human Study Centre, Peshawar University in collaboration with the Norwegian Institute of Human Rights in Oslo.
Career
Justice Moshin Akhtar Kayani was enrolled as Advocate of District Courts on 18 June 1995 and the Islamabad High Court on 21 November 1997. He was enrolled as an Advocate Supreme Court of Pakistan on 19 June 2009.
Moshin Akhtar Kayani remained highly devoted to education and started teaching along with his law practice. He taught as visiting faculty from 2006 to 2012 in a different institution.
He had taught at the Centre for Advanced Studies in Engineering, Islamabad, International Islamic University, Islamabad, University of Lahore, and Bahria University.
He remained as Joint Secretary of Islamabad Bar Association (1997-1998) General Secretary, Islamabad Bar Association (2003-2004) and President of Islamabad High Court Bar Association (2014-2015). He has provided consultancy with different national and international companies and embassies.
Islamabad High Court
Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani was elevated as Judge of Islamabad High Court, Islamabad on 23 December 2015.
He is the third in seniority after Islamabad High Court Chief Justice Athar Minallah and Justice Aamer Farooq. He will retire on 10 Febuary 2032.
