Blackpink member Jennie will appear in the upcoming series “The Idol,” whose ensemble is led by the Weeknd and Lily-Rose Depp, the media said.
The Idol is set against the backdrop of the music industry and was co-created by The Weeknd (real name Abel Tesfaye), Sam Levinson (“Euphoria”), and Reza Fahim. A self-help guru and the cult leader gets involved with a rising pop star in a way that gets complicated.
Jennie, who according to the media is slated to be credited under her full name, Jennie Kim, appears briefly in a newly released trailer for the show. The release date for the show has not been revealed.
The presence of Jennie has been confirmed via Twitter. It stated, “Jennie Kim has been cast in # THEIDOL.”
Later, the actress herself reaffirmed the information without expanding on her role or character in the show. “I found the script very intriguing, so I wanted to be part of the series,” Jennie told her agency. The quotation was reported by the media. “I feel very excited. I’ll work hard, so please watch me with affection.“
Some K-Pop fans consider “The Idol” to be Jennie’s true acting debut, and the announcement generated a flurry of enthusiasm among them. She has previously starred in “Castle Einstein” and “The Clash,” in the documentary “Blackpink: The Movie,” and in the series “Blackpink” as herself.
Lisa from the Kpop group recently made headlines after releasing a new track on Spotify. Her song “MONEY” has been played more than 500 million times on the platform in just 313 days, which is the quickest time for a K-pop solo artist to reach that milestone.
