James Gunn said he won’t have the same issue as Zack Snyder. Zack Snyder, who is “credited” (if you want to call it that) with starting the DC Universe on screen, has previously grumbled about Warner Bros. engaging in what he called “studio interference” when he tried to release his films in theatres.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League were both films directed by Zack Snyder that had constant alterations from the studio that were imposed from above. In fact, by the time Justice League was released in theatres, it had nothing to do with the movie Snyder had made. Joss Whedon was given credit for directing Justice League when Snyder left the project after suffering a personal tragedy.

Suicide Squad (2016) by David Ayer was likewise long believed to have suffered at the hands of Warner Bros. management, despite Ayer’s assurances that his own cut will finally be released. The Ayer edit hasn’t been released yet, in contrast to Snyder, whose Justice League cut was given an HBO Max exclusive release. But there is one thing that all of these interference-related movies have in common: unfavorable reviews. Fans and critics are aware when they are witnessing content that the filmmaker does not desire.

But now that James Gunn and Peter Safran are in charge of DC Studios, it seems that these problems will (hopefully) be a thing of the past. Gunn elaborated in a response to a fan on the social networking platform Mastodon as to why viewers shouldn’t worry about the movies being tampered with from above. “In comparison to Zack, etc., the situation has changed. I am Peter and we run DC Studios “explained Gunn. “We would be the only studio interference at all,”

In their first few weeks in charge, Gunn and Safran have already completely revamped the DC universe. As soon as Dwayne Johnson insisted on a cameo at the end of Black Adam, Henry Cavill went public on Instagram to announce his comeback as Superman. Shortly after, Gunn said the character will actually be recast for later films, reinventing the franchise and displacing Cavill from the role.

The third installment of the Wonder Woman series, which starred Gal Gadot and Patty Jenkins, was recently shelved. Jenkins disputes that she abandoned the project, and director James Gunn, who was asked why he fired Gadot, responded to a fan on Twitter by claiming he never “axed” anyone from that role.
