Eye screening program launched in Sindh schools

KARACHI: A comprehensive eye screening initiative for students in government schools has been approved in Sindh.

A comprehensive eye screening program is set to be implemented in government schools across Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Larkana, Mirpurkhas, and Shaheed Benazirabad. This initiative aims to screen student’s eyes and provide glasses to those in need.

An Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) has been granted a no objection certificate (NOC) to conduct these vital eye examinations.

Dr Fouzia Khan, Chief Advisor of the Curriculum Wing, emphasized the importance of cooperation from school heads to ensure children avoid vision disability. She highlighted that increased mobile phone usage significantly impacts children's eyesight.

In light of this the Director Education has issued a letter to all districts instructing schools to extend their full cooperation for the successful execution of this program. This widespread screening effort is expected to address vision issues among students promoting better eye health and academic performance.
