ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has set December 31 as the deadline for members of parliament to submit their statements of assets and liabilities.
According to the ECP, it is mandatory for all members to file declarations for the financial year 2024–25. The statements must include details of assets and liabilities owned by the members, their spouses, and dependent children.
The commission said that under the Election Act, the declarations must be submitted on the prescribed Form B. Members who fail to submit their statements by the due date will have their names published on January 1.
The ECP further warned that the memberships of lawmakers who do not file their declarations by January 15 will be suspended.
The suspended members will not be allowed to participate in parliamentary or assembly proceedings until the required statements are submitted.
The commission also cautioned that strict action will be taken against members found to have provided false information. In cases where misdeclaration is proven, legal proceedings will be initiated within 120 days.
Form B is available free of cost at the Election Commission Secretariat and relevant offices, and can also be downloaded from the ECP’s official website.
The Election Commission has directed all members to ensure compliance within the stipulated timeframe.
