Web Desk: The Henley Passport Index 2025 reveals a notable rise in the global ranking of the Pakistani passport, enhancing travel freedom for Pakistani citizens and opening new opportunities for international mobility.
According to the latest report by Henley Passport Index for 2025, the Pakistani passport has seen a significant improvement in its status and is now included in the list of the top 100 passports worldwide.
Pakistan has jumped 13 spots to secure the 100th position in this year’s rankings. The improved position now allows Pakistani citizens visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to 32 countries, easing global travel and boosting international mobility.
According to the reports, the most powerful passport is Singapore’s, allowing its holders to travel visa-free to 193 countries. Following that are Japan and South Korea, whose citizens can travel visa-free to 190 countries.
In third place are Germany, Ireland, Denmark, Finland, France, Italy, and Spain, whose passports enable visa-free travel to 189 countries.
Pakistan’s improved ranking has resulted in it entering the top 100 for the first time, now positioned at 100th place, alongside countries like Somalia and Yemen.
The Director General of Passports congratulated the nation on the improvement, stating that new security features introduced in the Pakistani passport have contributed to this progress. He added that modern technology and efficiency have enhanced the passport issuance system.
Furthermore, the DG announced that e-passport holders would soon benefit from e-gate services at all major airports, enabling faster immigration processing and added convenience for international travelers.
India ranked 82nd, Turkey stood at 49th, and China held the 64th position. Notably, Pakistan’s passport was among the lowest-ranked globally just last year. This rise in rank reflects a positive shift in the country’s international image and diplomatic engagement.
According to the Director General of Passports, online passport services are being provided to overseas Pakistanis to enhance facilities and further improve Pakistan’s global passport ranking. This initiative, in collaboration with the Ministry of Interior, is expected to positively impact Pakistan’s international standing.
