Barcelona thrashed Villarreal with 4-0 defeat in La Liga
Spanish Club Barcelona enjoyed the remarkable victory against Villarreal after defeating it...
FC Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu has resigned from his position following a contractual dispute with the Argentine Forward Lionel Messi.
According to the details, the rest of the FC Barcelona Club’s board of directors also stepped down alongside Josep Maria Bartomeu.
However, an election will be scheduled within the next three months to appoint a new team president.
In his parting address on the club’s website; Josep Maria Bartomeu said “Today I can announce a piece of news that will extraordinarily change the club’s revenue prospects for the coming years.”
“We have to act responsibly, for that reason we cannot hold the vote of censure in the current circumstances. It was necessary to do so in conditions that guaranteed everybody’s health.”

He added that “We cannot nor want to put ourselves in a position of having to choose between protecting people’s health and exercising the right to vote.
Furthermore, he said, “And I also want to announce that we have approved the acceptance of the future new format of the Club World Cup.”
Following the resignation of the president, a temporary management board will supervise the day-to-day operations of the club until a new executive board is appointed.
It is pertinent to mention here that earlier in October, more than 20,000 supporters signed a petition for Joseph Bartomeu to be removed as Barca president after becoming increasingly upset with his management of the team.
That triggered a referendum on Bartomeu’s position at the club, but a vote is no longer needed.
