Pakistan Skipper Babar Azam has said that he will be back in action in the series against South Africa.
The Skipper while talking to reporters in Lahore expressed his excitement about the tour of South Aftica to Pakistan.
He said that “I will be back in action in the series,” he said, adding that he was not worried about the team’s bowling attack, stressing that he trusts his bowlers.
He added that “It is important to support the team during difficult times. I have full confidence in our bowlers and I am sure they will perform better in the coming series,” he said.
Babar Azam said “I have not met the new chief selector yet. We will decide the squad for the South African series after consultation with the team management and selectors,” he added.
On Monday, the national cricket head coach Misbah-ul-Haq said that the absence of Captain Babar Azam was one of the major reasons for the disappointing performance during the New Zealand tour.
The former Skipper Misbah-ul-Haq said that lack of training for undergoing strict isolation rules impacted the performance against Kiwis.
Misbah said that “The injury of Babar Azam is a big issue for us. It was a big loss for us, especially in Test cricket. This was a setback that made us down morally as well as on the field.”
Pakistan lost the three-match T20I series and two Tests against New Zealand.
