Mohamed Salah undecided over Liverpool future

Mohamed Salah has said that he hasn’t decided whether or not he wants to continue at Liverpool beyond his current deal, reigniting rumors of a possible Anfield exit.

Salah’s contract expires at the end of next season, and after months of talks, he has failed to sign a new agreement.

The 29-year-old is said to want to be the highest-paid player in the Premier League, with weekly salaries of roughly £500,000 ($642,000).

Salah told FourFourTwo magazine that he wasn’t sure if he’d stay with Jurgen Klopp’s side this season, who are pursuing an unprecedented quadruple.

“I have one year left,” said the forward. “I think the fans know what I want, but in the contract it’s not everything about the money at all. So I don’t know, I can’t tell you exactly. I have one year left.”

Salah has cemented his reputation as a Liverpool legend since joining from Roma in 2017.

In all competitions, he has 155 goals in 245 games, helping Liverpool win the Premier League for the first time in 30 years in 2020, as well as the 2019 Champions League.

With 22 goals so far this season, he is back on top of the Premier League goalscoring charts.

Offering hope to Liverpool fans, Salah said: “This club means a lot to me. I’ve enjoyed my football here more than anywhere. I gave the club everything and everybody saw that.

“I’ve had a lot of unbelievable moments here, winning trophies, individual goals, individual trophies. It’s like a family here.”

Salah conceded it would be a difficult decision to walk away from the unique Anfield atmosphere and the passionate support of Liverpool’s global fanbase whenever he leaves the club.

“To play in that atmosphere and to see the fans always behind me… I have banners in the stadium, two or three, and they’re always singing my song. It’s going to be a really sad moment.”
