When Liverpool takes on Real Madrid in the Champions League final, Mohamed Salah says it will be “vengeance time.”

On May 28, they will face in Paris, which is a repeat of the 2018 final, the Spanish giants then won 3-1.

Salah was forced off the field with a shoulder injury received in a challenge by Real defender Sergio Ramos before halftime.

“I’m extremely excited,” the 29-year-old attacker said. “I said before the game that I wanted to play Madrid in the final.”

“We lost in the final in 2018; it was a sad day for all of us, and I believe it is time for vengeance.”

“I’m sure it’ll be a tough game; they’ve beaten a lot of excellent teams, so all we have to do now is focus on the game.”

Salah bounced back from that setback a year later, converting a penalty in the Champions League final against Tottenham to help Liverpool win their sixth European title.

Liverpool are still chasing an unprecedented quadruple this season, having won the League Cup and qualified for the FA Cup final, where they will face Chelsea on May 14 at Wembley.

Meanwhile, Liverpool are one point behind Premier League leaders Manchester City with four games remaining in the season.

Salah, the Egypt captain, has been crucial to Liverpool’s challenge this season on all fronts, scoring 30 goals and providing 14 assists in 45 matches.

For the second time, he has been named Footballer of the Year by the Football Writers’ Association, after winning the accolade four years earlier.

“It feels fantastic,” he said after receiving his award in London on Thursday night.

“I’d want to thank everyone who voted for me – journalists are, after all, an important part of the football family. We’re hoping to win a few more (trophies) this year.”

After Real overcame Manchester City 5-3 on aggregate in their semi-final clash on Wednesday, Salah tweeted that Liverpool “have a score to settle.”
