Mohamed Salah, the Liverpool striker, believes he will be at Anfield next season “for sure,” but won’t say whether he will sign a new contract.

Salah’s contract expires in June 2023, prompting suspicion that if he does not sign a new one, he will be sold because he will be a free agent in a year.

Before Saturday’s Champions League final, he was asked about his future and said: “That is something I do not want to discuss.

“All I want to see is Jordan Henderson [Hendo] holding the trophy.”

Egypt’s 29-year-old attacker continued: “I’m not concentrating on the deal right now. I’m not trying to be self-centered.”

“I’m definitely staying next season.”

Sadio Mane, Salah’s teammate, stated he would make his decision on his future after the final against Real Madrid in Paris.

From June, the Senegal international, who has 120 goals in 268 games for the Reds, will enter the final year of his contract.

“I’ll respond to this topic [about my future] after the Champions League. I’ll decide whether or not to stay after the Champions League,” he said.

Jurgen Klopp has downplayed claims that the outcome of Saturday’s game will influence whether or not some players choose to extend their contracts.

“Not at all,” he replied.

“What if we win and they want to come with us? We are in discussions with all parties; but, now is not the time to discuss the outcomes of those discussions.”

“None of them are in the dark about what we’re preparing.”

“We only play every three days, so there isn’t enough time. The players have an idea, and we have an idea; sometimes they match right away, and sometimes they don’t, and then we collaborate.”

“We’ve known each other for a long time.”

Salah joined Liverpool from Roma in 2017 and has 156 goals in 253 games.

During his time at Anfield, he has helped the club win the Premier League in 2019-20, the 2019 Champions League, the FA Cup and League Cup this season, as well as the Fifa Club World Cup and Uefa Super Cup.

Klopp said in March that Salah would decide whether or not to sign a new deal.

The former Chelsea striker has already stated that he wants to stay, but that his destiny is in the hands of Liverpool, and that he is not seeking “crazy stuff.”

Manchester City beat Liverpool, won the league title by a point on Sunday, ruining Liverpool’s ambitions of completing an unprecedented quadruple in England.

The encounter against Real Madrid in Paris on Saturday will be a rematch of the 2018 Champions League final, which Real Madrid won 3-1 after Salah was injured in the first half following a heated altercation with Sergio Ramos.

Salah continued, “I’m incredibly driven, through the roof, considering what happened last time [2018 final] and everyone is motivated for this.”

“We’re fighting for it, and everyone is ecstatic.”
