Geopolitical unrest and inflation are among the “obstructions” Salt Lake City faces in its offer to have the 2030 Winter Games, U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee (USOPC) Chair Susanne Lyons said on Thursday.

The U.S. is ready to have consecutive Games, with Los Angeles affirmed as the 2028 Summer Olympics have Lyons said, yet the International Olympic Committee (IOC) is probably going to hold on for the rest of the year to settle on a decision.

“There’s an evil sentiment somewhat about a portion of the international environment that encompassed the Beijing Games,” Lyons told journalists.
