Due to shoulder and rib injuries, Bangladesh skipper Shakib Al Hasan only bowled 12 overs in the first innings of the first Test against India and did not roll his arm over in the second innings. Nevertheless, bowling coach Allan Donald said the left-arm spin all-rounder will be available to bowl in the second Test at Dhaka.

Shakib will bowl, that’s fine. He suffered injuries during the one-day match here, but he has overcome them. He can bowl and is available for selection “In the news conference prior to the game, he noted.

Donald stated that Taskin Ahmed will replace the injured Ebadot Hossain in the starting eleven. “The same three spinners will be used, and Taskin will be back. as well as Khaled. I apologise to the selectors, but I think I may be a little bit out of line. That’s what I anticipate taking place.”

Shakib is in good shape, which is good news. Looking at the field, I believe he will play a significant role. Taskin is able to proceed. He wanted to participate in the final Test, but his rhythm was severely lacking. For him, the last Test’s buildup was really important. He is eagerly anticipating the competition.” Bangladesh cannot afford to let India off the hook, as was the case in their 188-run defeat at Chattogram, Donald said. India was 48/3 in the first innings on the first day of the first Test, but they managed to post 404 and bowl the hosts out for 150, which laid the groundwork for their victory.

“You just had one shot to profit. Having won the toss, you should bat first and score 350 or 380. I’m speculating on the potential significance of that score from the first inning. The pitch appears to be quite dry, so you must win the first inning.” “You only get one opportunity to start the Test match in the first inning. When we had India 48 for three in the first inning, we also demonstrated that if we bowl. We missed a few good chances, but at this point, we cannot drop. You are then put to death.”

“From a full bowling lineup, we generated opportunities. The run-rate was maintained at just over three. In Chittagong, test matches can run for extended stretches without much occurring. You must seize the chance when it presents itself. We can’t make mistakes like Ebadot’s dropped catch (sorry, Ebadot!).”

“The game looks to be going nowhere since it takes so long to generate pressure and requires persistence, fortitude, and creativity. All you have to do is persevere and take the chance. That is how tough Test cricket is. In that regard, we must be much more clinical.” The way forward for the hosts, according to Donald, should be the way Bangladesh batted in the second innings, where rookie opener Zakir Hasan scored a century and Shakib made an aggressive 84.

“We aim to triumph. No matter where you play India, you rank that as one of your highest accomplishments. 150 was obviously insufficient for us. We’ve discussed the principles guiding our relationship. We must be far more resilient, as evidenced by our performance in the second innings. We are driven to succeed. Many people, including me, want to return home for a postponed Christmas after picking up a victory.”

“The hitting in the second inning serves as our model. Many people are astonished by the young man. I had not before seen Zakir. I adore his disposition, bravado, and aggressive mentality. He’s arrived to play. He shown his ability to compete against the top bowlers. He has been a wonderful infusion of new life. He supports him.”
