After dealing a serious blow to City’s chances of regaining the title, United came to within one point of their neighbourhood rivals in the Premier League rankings.
With Rashford originally being ruled offside as Bruno Fernandes slid the ball home in the 78th minute, there was some debate around United’s equalizer. The goal was eventually awarded after a VAR review.
Rashford then emerged as United’s greatest asset once more, scoring for the ninth straight game in all competitions to rescue a thrilling late victory for the hosts. With nine straight victories across all competitions, the hosts closed the distance to City in second place.
Rashford has scored 27 of his 67 Premier League goals as the game-winning goal, which is the highest percentage of any player with 50+ goals in league history (40.3%), according to Opta.
Rashford also became the first Manchester United player since Cristiano Ronaldo in 2008 to score in seven straight games across all competitions.
