Agha Salman of Pakistan made an incredible catch in the opening ODI of the three-match series against New Zealand on Monday in Karachi.

In order to complete the catch and put an end to Kiwi opener Finn Allen’s perilous stint, 29 off 27, in the middle, Salman dove full length to his right.

It should be noted that Pakistani leg-spinner Usama Mir and New Zealand pacer Henry Shipley are both making their ODI debuts.

The last time these two sides met was in the 2019 edition of the 50-over World Cup, when Pakistan won by a commanding six-wicket margin in Birmingham thanks to Babar Azam’s superb unbeaten century.

Their prior bilateral series (in the UAE in 2018) ended 1-1 due to rain in the final match.

During the series against New Zealand, Pakistan has a chance to become the world’s top ODI team.

Pakistan will move up to the top of the rankings with 114 rating points if they defeat New Zealand 3-0 during the three-match series.

With 107 rating points, The Men in Green are currently in fifth place. New Zealand is currently in first place with 116 rating points.
