Conte expects Lloris to stay at Spurs
LONDON: Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte expects Hugo Lloris to remain at...
Hugo Lloris, the captain of Tottenham, will be unavailable for six to eight weeks due to a knee injury.
In Sunday’s 1-0 Premier League victory over Manchester City, the 36-year-old sustained a ligament injury.
Tottenham’s head coach, Antonio Conte, will be extremely saddened by the injury because his team’s schedule over the next three weeks includes games against West Ham United and Chelsea in London derbies as well as a matchup with AC Milan in the Champions League round of 16.
They play Leicester City in the league on Saturday before going to AC Milan for the opening leg on Tuesday.
Spurs’ back-up centre is English international and former Southampton player Fraser Forster.
Brandon Austin and Alfie Whiteman, players from the academy, are also options, but neither has much senior-level experience.
Currently ranked sixth in the Premier League, Spurs are hoping for a Champions League spot for the upcoming campaign.
Forster, who signed for Spurs in the summer on a free transfer, has only appeared in one Premier League match for the team—a 2-2 tie with Brentford on Boxing Day.
After helping France win the 2018 World Cup, Lloris announced his retirement from international football this month.
He has seven clean sheets to his name this season in 21 league outings.
