Jos Buttler, England’s captain, defended his team’s lineup after a loss to Bangladesh in the second T20 forced them to drop the series.

In the hosts’ four-wicket victory on Sunday, England’s batting once again struggled as they were bowled out for 117.

Prior to the series, England was forced to withdraw Tom Abell and Will Jacks due to injuries.

Buttler stated that England wanted players to gain “exposure” before the 50-over World Cup later this year.

The team has a different balance and a different feel “He stated.

“We wanted to give exposure to players who, in these conditions, will most likely play in the 50-over World Cup.

“It felt like a great opportunity to showcase the all-rounders’ batting, perhaps one spot higher than in our regular team.”

England crumbled from 50-1 after six overs to be dismissed off the final ball of the innings in Mirpur on another spinning surface, which is comparable to the conditions England will probably find in India during the longer white-ball format in October and November.

Both batted higher in the order than they did in England’s T20 World Cup victory before Christmas, with Moeen Ali scoring 15 at number three and Sam Curran scoring 12 at number six.

From their winning team, England is also without Ben Stokes, Harry Brook, and opener Alex Hales due to Test commitments. Hales has chosen to complete his Pakistan Super League contract.

“With the way cricket is right now, a few players have opted not to come here for various reasons, so it felt like instead of calling someone else up, try to use the guys who would be exposed to these conditions in the 50-over World Cup as well.”

The third game in the T20 series will take place on Tuesday in Mirpur.
