The 16 regional age-group teams that will compete in the U13 and U16 competitions starting on March 12 have been announced by the Pakistan Cricket Board, along with their schedules and rosters.

In both tournaments, the teams were split into three groups.

“The first round of the U13 tournament will be played in Karachi and Faisalabad till March 20. The top team from each group will play a round-robin tri-series from April 29 till May 3 before the final on May 5. The venues for the tri-series and final will be announced in due course,” the PCB said in a press release.

“The first round of the U16 tournament will also be played from March 12-20 in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Sheikhupura and Gujranwala. The top team from each group will play a round-robin tri-series from April 30 till May 4 before the final on May 6. The venues for the tri-series and final will be announced in due course,” it added.

Earlier, the PCB selected former deputy attorney general and former secretary of the Supreme Court Bar Association Ahmed Shehzad Farooq Rana to the position of election commissioner.

The appointment was made in accordance with Article 29 of the 2014 PCB Constitution by PCB Patron and Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif.

After receiving the notification, Rana took over on Thursday and met with Najam Sethi, chair of the PCB Management Committee, to go over the election process, which would start with polls in about 50 districts.

In this context, Rana has selected 13 Deputy Election Commissioners who would be in charge of holding free, fair, and transparent elections in the districts, after consulting with the Chair of the PCB Management Committee.

Abdul Malik, Ahsan Ahmed Jatoi, Ch Asim Rasheed, Farhan Zia, Khalid Mitro, Khawar Mehmood, Khushal Kasi, Malik Sardar Khan, Mohsin Shabbir Bhatti, Mubashar Maqsood Jaffar, Mukesh Kumar, Shahbaz Yar Khan, and Shahid Qayum are the 13 Deputy Election Commissioners.
