PSL 2023: Lahore Qalandars, the defending champions, are the first team in Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 8 to advance to the playoffs.

The Qalandars have qualified for the playoffs after defeating the Multan Sultans by a score of 21 runs on Saturday.

The players of Qalandars joined in a victory dance after their impressive qualification.

Pacer Dilbar Hussain, along with Aqib Javed and other players, can be seen celebrating the victory with some dance moves in a video shared by the franchise shortly after today’s match.

Mohammad Rizwan and Shan Masood were able to survive the powerplay while also scoring 44 runs for the Sultans as they attempted to reach the 181-run goal.

Masood, however, was caught by Shaheen Shah Afridi off the bowling of Zaman Khan in the seventh over of the innings and was out. In 20 balls, the left-hander scored 19 runs.

After a successful review, Sikandar Raza was able to claim the prized scalp of Mohammad Rizwan, who scored 30 runs in 27 balls. Although the replay revealed three reds, the on-field umpire rejected the LBW appeal.

Usama Mir was unexpectedly moved up the batting order in an attempt to score some quick runs, but the experiment only produced 17 runs in 11 balls. Rashid Khan got rid of Mir, who was up to bat at number three. After yet another successful review by the Qalandars, the Afghanistan leg-spinner dismissed David Miller (1) in the same over.

Although Kieron Pollard scored 39 runs in just 28 balls, Multan was unable to cross the finish line.

One wicket each was taken by Zaman Khan, Haris Rauf, Sikandar Raza, and Hussain Talat.

Multan’s total score after 20 overs was 159-7.
