RAWALPINDI: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) stated on Friday that Shan Masood and Tim David of Multan Sultans and Fazalhaq Farooqi and Shadab Khan of Islamabad United have each been penalised 10% of their match fees for breaking the code of conduct.
Farooqi received a punishment for violating the PCB Code of Conduct for Players and Players Support Staff during the Pakistan Super League (PSL) game between Islamabad and Lahore Qalandars played on Thursday at the Pindi Cricket Stadium, according to a press release from the board.
Farooqi allegedly broke Article 2.5 of the PCB Code of Conduct, which prohibits using gestures or remarks that could make a batter angry after being dismissed from a game.
After removing the batter in the 19th over of the Lahore Qalandars’ batting, Farooqi shouted foul language.
The Afghanistan athlete admitted responsibility and agreed to the punishment.
Shadab Khan, the captain of Islamabad United, Shan Masood, and Tim David, players for Multan Sultans, each received a 10% match fee penalties for Level 1 violations of the PSL Code of Conduct.
The three players were each involved in a different incident during Tuesday’s match between respective teams.
Article 2.8 of the PSL Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Workers, which deals with “Showing discontent at an Umpire’s judgement during a Match,” was determined to have been broken by all three players.
After Shadab objected to the umpire’s decision to rule a wide on the fourth ball of the 20th over of the Sultans’ batting, he was fined.
About Shan, the batter expressed his dissatisfaction after the umpire did not call one for the over for a short-pitched ball on the penultimate ball of the 14th over.
Tim David also voiced his disappointment with the leg-decision umpire’s not to declare a short-pitched ball a wide delivery on the second ball of the Sultans’ batting team’s 18th over.
Shadab and Shan admitted guilt and agreed to the punishments. At a formal hearing, David challenged the verdict and was prosecuted.
The on-field umpires brought charges in each of the four situations.
