However, the opening pair of Sharma and Shubman Gill departed early, leaving the team at 93-2 in 10.3 overs. This pivotal moment saw Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer join forces, constructing a vital 134-run partnership that steadied the ship for the Indian side. Iyer, who contributed 77 runs from 87 balls, including nine boundaries, skillfully accelerated the innings when it was needed the most. This century marked Kohli’s 49th in One Day Internationals (ODIs), equalling the legendary Sachin Tendulkar’s record.

Kohli remained at the crease until the final delivery, and during the last overs, he received valuable support from quick-fire innings by Suryakumar Yadav (22 runs off 14 balls) and Ravindra Jadeja (29 runs off 15 balls). This collective effort propelled India to a commanding total of 326 runs in the allotted overs, setting the stage for their remarkable victory over South Africa.
