At the Junction Oval in Melbourne, on the first day of the practice match versus Victoria XI, Salman Ali Agha, Saud Shakeel, and Muhammad Rizwan scored fifty runs each.

Shakeel scored the most, with 70 runs, as Pakistan ended their first inning with 323-8.

In response, Victoria XI was 47-1 in 11 overs at stumps on the opening day. Shaheen Afridi, the pacer, gave the visitors figures of 1–16.

Australia defeated Pakistan handily in the opening match of the three-Test series. Pakistan lost the match by 360 runs after being assigned a target of 450 in the fourth inning, folding for a pitiful 89 in 30.2 overs.

In their first inning, the visitors were bowled for 271 in response to Australia’s 487.

Melbourne Cricket Ground will host the series’ second Test from December 26 to 30.
