Mark Gurman claims that a more customisable Home Screen will soon be offered to iPhone starting from iOS 18.

As iOS 18, the latest flagship software update for iPhone, makes its anticipated debut at WWDC in June this year, leaks have begun to surface, providing insights into what to expect from this major iOS upgrade. Reports suggest that iOS 18 will bring significant changes to the user interface and experience on iPhone.

Renowned Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman, known for his accurate predictions regarding Apple products, has disclosed that iOS 18 will offer extensive customization options for iPhone users, particularly concerning the appearance of Home Screen app icons. Gurman claims that users will gain control over how their Home Screen icons are displayed, allowing for personalized customization.

According to MacRumors, the Home Screen app icons may be organized within an undisclosed grid to ensure alignment between display elements. However, iOS 18 is expected to enable users to arrange app icons and create blank spaces, rows, and columns between icons.

While third-party apps like Shortcuts and Widgetsmith currently offer similar capabilities for arranging Home Screen icons and creating blank spaces, iOS 18’s native functionality will be more convenient and won’t require additional app installations.

Customizing app icons has been a standard feature on iPhones since the release of iOS 16. However, iOS 18 promises to introduce a range of additional icon customization features, potentially making it the most significant Home Screen enhancement in years.

The iOS 18 update is set to debut at Apple’s annual WWDC event in June. Alongside Home Screen customization, other anticipated features include new generative AI capabilities for Siri and multiple apps, RCS support in the Messages app for enhanced messaging between iPhones and Android devices, design modifications, and more.
