According to Afghan media, a policeman opened fire at colleagues killing seven. The incident occurred at Shah Wali district of Kandahar.

According to sources, policeman also fled the scene after killing colleagues.

Afghan Taliban claimed the responsibility of the attack calling the attacker their militant. Government officials are yet to issue any statement on that.

In 2007 a similar incident occurred a policeman opened fire at his colleagues killing nine.

The attack have occurred at a time when United States and Afghan Taliban would sit in Doha for the most important round of peace talks.

Eighth round of Afghan peace talk would start today in Doha capital of Qatar between US and Afghan Taliban.

US special envoy Zalmay Khalilzad will head the delegation to hold a peace talks with Afghan Taliban today.

According to the details, Afghan Taliban and US would sit to end the 18 year long war in Afghanistan.

US special envoy said that America wants to strike a peace deal. As soon as peace is achieved US forces would leave Afghanistan.

Afghan Taliban are also looking towards a good peace deal and we are also ready for it, he added.

Previously, United States Special Envoy Zalmay Khalilzad visited Pakistan.

The reason of the visit is to inform Pakistan about ongoing peace talk’s process about Afghan issue.

Prime Minister Imran Khan also met Zalmay Khalilzad on the implementation of peace process of Afghan war.

PM and US envoy discussed the progress of dialogues between US and Afghan Taliban.

PM said that Afghan peace process is in national interest of Pakistan. To strike a peace deal, dialogue with Afghan political forces is necessary.

Earlier, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi also met with US special envoy on peace Zalmay Khalilzad.

FM said that long term peace and stability in Afghanistan is only possible when all Afghan parties sit together for dialogue.
