New features include shops on WhatsApp and Marketplace, Instagram Visual Search, and Shops Ads.

Facebook announced addition to its e-commerce features on Tuesday, including the expansion of its “Shops” feature to messaging app WhatsApp and Facebook Marketplace.

Mark Zuckerberg stated that personalized advertisements would be included in this shopping service.

The company said it would develop an artificial intelligence feature called ‘Visual Search’ in the coming months so that users shopping on its photo-sharing site Instagram can click on items and find related ones.

According to Zuckerberg, the social media company is also working on augmented reality tools for customers to try on products.

According to CEO Mark Zuckerberg, “Instagram Visual Search helps you discover products based on images that inspire you.”

“Shops on WhatsApp: soon you’ll be able to view a Shop in WhatsApp so you can chat with a business before buying something. Businesses only need to set up their shop once to have it work across Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp,” he added.

On the other hand, Facebook is attempting to make it easier for group administrators to avoid toxic conversations. The social network launched a new tool that would allow administrators to limit comments on postings, in order to “slow down” conversations.

Group administrators can now limit particular users’ ability to post for a certain period of time. They can also limit all new comments on specific posts.

Facebook is also testing “conflict alerts,” which will notify group admins when “contentious or unhealthy conversations” start taking place in their groups.
