KARACHI: Sindh Solid Waste Management Board Managing Director Zubair Ahmad Channa said that the wages of sanitary workers, helpers and drivers should be paid in accordance with the official wages agreed by the provincial government.

While presiding over a meeting with officials and concerned officers of Chinese company working in South District, Eastern District, Malir District, Kemari District, West District and Korangi District, he said that the department wants to solve the basic problems of sanitary workers on a priority basis.

He said that along with the wages, the sanitary workers, helpers and drivers should also be given extra incentives in light of their exceptional performances to encourage maximum productivity.

Officials of the Chinese companies present at the meeting assured the managing director that salaries would be timely paid as per government-allocated wages from December 1. Channa warned that if the verbal assurances are not put into action from December 1, then the payment of salaries of the employees would be deducted from the bills of SSWMB Chinese companies.
