Spoiler alert: You might want to wear all of these looks right away
With fall right around the corner, it’s almost time to use the changing weather to bust out your warmer clothes and start mixing, matching and layering to make your outfits more exciting. However, even if you aren’t going through an entire closet overhaul, fall is the perfect season to experiment with the finishing touches of your look, including your nails and makeup. In addition to the usual warmer tones to capture the fall hues and mood, there are a few exciting options that experts in the makeup and styling industry expect to be trending this fall.
Rusty reds
If a bright, true red is not up your alley, a shade of red mixed in with a little brown might just be your perfect fall shade. Pairing it with a gold glitter accent, both on your nails or your makeup, could make for a beautiful pairing inspired by the changing colours of the leaves.
Tonal browns and neutrals
Match your nails and makeup with all the pumpkin spice lattes you plan on consuming during this season. With a colour that seems to have an endless variety of shades, the right undertone of this colour is sure to work with any skin tone. If you are going for a subtle and soft look with a little bit of definition to not appear too overdone, you might want to play around with your nude palettes to help create your perfect eye look.
Neutral metallic
If you want nails that make you stand out from the crowd, chrome is the way to go. The metallic look encapsulates every colour fall has to offer, from reds and oranges, to greens, browns and gold all on a single nail. If you want to go for a bolder look you could try a similar chrome glitter or liquid eye shadow, which will give the appearance of a different colour every time the light hits you from a different angle.
Glazed donut
Thanks to Hailey Bieber, the glazed donut nail trend has recently taken over TikTok, with everyone trying to recreate the famous nail-style. It is surprisingly easy to do, which shows why it has gained such rapid popularity. Even though celebrity nail stylist Zola Ganzorigt, the manicurist responsible for Hailey’s glazed donut style, used an all OPI nail polish to create the look, you can achieve it by painting your nails with a single coat of a sheer white or a sheer light nude. Top if off with a pearlescent upper coat, and you now have yourself nails that are red carpet ready.
Mossy greens
If you are looking for something outside the typical reds and browns of fall, mossy greens are the perfect colour family to help you transition into the darker shades. Not only are they perfect for this season, they also do something a little unexpected. There is just something so luxurious about a deep green, be it on your nails or incorporated into your makeup. This is a colour that can complement a wide range of eye colours and skin tones, and it also pairs perfectly with a gold, peach blush and a nude lip.
Deep berry
Raspberry coloured lips with a neutral grey or nude eye, or even a deep purple manicure, are the one autumnal colour that will never go out of style. Raspberry screams sophistication and is perfect for either dressing up or down. If you want to put an unexpected twist on this classic shade you could always place this pop of colour on the bottom of your eyes instead of on the top of eyelids.
Classic blue
Fall is the perfect time to dip into all the jewel tones, and this year blue is having its moment. Jazz up your look with a pop of blue eyeliner instead of the traditional black, or cover your eyelids with a burst of blue for a look which requires minimal effort but gives the impression that you spent hours perfecting it. If blue is your colour of choice throughout the year, you can seamlessly transition from a pastel blue during the summer to a deeper and richer blue for the fall.
Glitter bomb
Everything is a little better with glitter, and that sentiment definitely applies to nails and makeup too. Whether you choose to go with a glitter accented nail or an embellishment all over, it is sure to pump up your energy and add a spring to your step. A little glitter in the inner corner of your eye or all over your eyelids is definitely the way to go this fall.
