Government will ensure 1,000 ICU beds this month, says Asad Umar

Federal Minister for Planning and Special Initiatives Asad Umar said that the government will make sure the availability of 1000 ICU beds this month.

Asad Umar said during a press conference in Islamabad that the federation is struggling to improve the health system by collaborating with provinces.

He said, “The federal government provided 250 ventilators to provinces in one week. Coronavirus can only be controlled by taking precautions.”

“Burden on hospitals is rising due to a sharp increase in Covid-19 cases and deaths. In this regard, the federal government has decided to consult with all provinces regarding the provision of 1000 more ICU beds for Covid-19 patients,”

In addition to this, he also said that the 72 ventilators have been provided to Punjab last week. Sindh and KPK were also provided with 52 ventilators each.
