London Police record Tasneem Haider’s statement against Nawaz Sharif

London police recorded the statement of Tasneem Haider Shah, who claimed to be a spokesperson of PML-N and leveled serious allegations against Nawaz Sharif.

London police launched an investigation after Tasneem Haider Shah submitted an affidavit against the PML-L leadership and sought protection.

He had made the startling revelation that the assassination plot against PTI chairman Imran Khan and conspiracy to kill journalist Arshad Sharif was hatched in London by Nawaz Sharif.

Mehtab Aziz, the counsel for Tasneem Haider, said that the case will now be probed by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of London Police.

He said Charing Cross Police Station transferred the case to Hammersmith Police Station for further investigation. The CID team at Hammersmith Police Station will investigate the matter.

The lawyer said in view of the sensitivity of the case, the investigation has been given to senior officers of CID. He said the case was reported by Overseas Pakistani Tariq Mehmood while Tasneem Haider joined as a witness and the police recorded his statement.

Tasneem Haider had alleged that the conspiracy to assassinate Imran Khan and kill journalist Shaheed Arshad Sharif took place in London. He had accused Nawaz Sharif and Nasir Butt of Arshad Sharif’s murder, after which the London police recorded Tasneem Haider’s statement.

Earlier, Tasneem Haider Shah had confirmed receiving summons from the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) in Pakistan regarding the probe into the killing of journalist Arshad Sharif.

Tasneem has said that the FIA summons have been forwarded to his lawyer and he is ready to record his statement in the case. Shah said he cannot travel to Pakistan as several cases were lodged against him. He vowed to stand by his statement regarding the attack on Imran Khan and conspiracy to kill Arshad Sharif.

A two-member fact-finding committee set up by the federal interior ministry to investigate the killing of Arshad Sharif summoned Tasneem Haider Shah on November 29.

Tasneem Haider Shah had levelled serious allegations against PML-N leadership and claimed that the assassination plots against Imran Khan and slain senior journalist Arshad Sharif were prepared in London.

He claimed that he held three meetings with Nawaz Sharif at Hussain Nawaz’s office in London where PML-N London President Nasir Butt was also present. He said he was associated with the PML-N for the last 20 years.

He said he was summoned for the meeting to prepare a plot to assassinate Imran Khan and Arshad Sharif. When he refused, he claimed that he was told that the arrangements had been made.

Shah maintained that he was ready to record his testimony before the investigation institutions of Pakistan. He also claimed that PML-N was also aware of Arshad Sharif’s location in Kenya.
