Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif attended the ceremony of the "Honhaar Scholarship Program" at FAST University Islamabad and congratulated the students and parents receiving scholarships, expressing her joy in awarding scholarships to deserving students.
In her address, she said, "The future of my country is in safe hands." She highlighted that 60% of the scholarships were awarded to female students, adding, "All students have to work hard to take charge of the country’s future."
Maryam Nawaz also announced plans to provide 50,000 scholarships next year, emphasizing that the Punjab government is extending scholarships to students of private universities as well. "This is the change we are seeing in Pakistan," she remarked.
She further stated, "Scholarships are the right of students, and I have fulfilled this responsibility. This year, we are awarding 30,000 scholarships." Questioning why the previous government did not make such decisions, she added, "I want to provide free e-motorcycles to children and have strived to ensure 100% merit across Punjab."
The Chief Minister stated that sometimes MPAs get upset, but she does not entertain recommendations, emphasizing that the journey of impartial public service is progressing. She urged all students to reflect on what they can contribute to the country.
She remarked, "The opposition’s job is only criticism and propaganda. Rioting and destruction do not suit students. Abusive language and misconduct are not traits of students. What kind of politics involves pushing poor children into acts of arson and vandalism?"
Maryam Nawaz added that despite the opposition’s campaign of misbehavior, they are moving forward. "Respecting mothers, sisters, and daughters is our tradition. It is not our politics to humiliate anyone. Those who train others in abusive behavior are not your well-wishers."
She further stated, "I have been subjected to character assassination due to political opposition. However, I have grown stronger and no longer care about disrespectful behavior. The progress of the people remains the focus of my vision."
