Cristiano Ronaldo, who is the captain of Portugal, has signed a two-year deal with Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr, the club said on Friday.

Ronaldo, who is 37, left Premier League powerhouse Manchester United last month after an explosive TV interview in which he said he felt betrayed by the Old Trafford club and did not respect their Dutch manager Erik ten Hag.

“I am eager to experience a new football league in a different country. Al Nassr Club’s vision is very inspiring,” the Saudi club quoted Ronaldo as saying.

He will bring a lot of club awards with him to Saudi Arabia. From 2009 to 2018, he played for Spanish powerhouse Real Madrid and won two LaLiga titles, two Spanish Cups, four Champions League titles, and three Club World Cups.

He went on to score 451 goals for Real, which is a club record. He has scored more than 800 goals for club and country as an adult.

In three years at Juventus, Ronaldo won two Serie A titles and a Copa Italia trophy. He then went back to United, where he won three Premier League titles, the FA Cup, two League Cups, the Champions League, and the Club World Cup.

He played for Portugal in Qatar, and when he scored a penalty in his team’s first Group H game against Ghana, he became the first player to score in five World Cups. Morocco beat Portugal in the quarter-finals and sent them home.

Ronaldo said that Qatar would probably be his last World Cup because he plans to retire at 40. A move to Saudi Arabia is likely to be the end of the career of one of the best players in the game right now, along with Lionel Messi.
