Ramiz Raja said that New PCB setup wants me to apologize

Ramiz Raja, a former head of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), said that the Najam Sethi-led management committee wants him to apologies for recent comments he made criticising the management in order to be added to the Pakistan Super League commentary team (PSL).

Raja was removed from his position as PCB chairman by the Shehbaz Sharif-led administration in December 2022, and Sethi was chosen to lead the 14-member committee in charge of the board’s operations prior to elections.

The committee’s repeal of the 2019 constitution made it possible for the 2014 law to take effect.

During a fan Q&A on his YouTube channel, Raja was asked about providing commentary for PSL 8.

“They [the PCB’s management committee] want me to apologies to them first and then submit an application for criticism, which they will then consider. Do you think I’ll do it?” Raja stated.

Raja expressed his disappointment after being dismissed from the PCB and stated that state intervention in cricket is not justified.

“Cricket should be free of political intrusion. The Pakistani government removed a Test cricketer from the PCB chairmanship solely to accommodate Najam Sethi. This is an extremely disrespectful way to treat your cricketers “According to the former cricketer.

“They [the PCB’s management committee] want me to apologies to them first and then submit an application for criticism, which they will then consider. Do you think I’ll do it?” Raja stated.

Raja voiced his disappointment after being ousted from the PCB and argued that state participation in cricket is not appropriate.

“Cricket should be free of political intrusion. The Pakistani government removed a Test cricketer from the PCB chairperson solely to accommodate Najam Sethi. This is a really rude way to treat your cricketers “According to the former cricketer.

“At 2:15 a.m., Najam Sethi tweets that Ramiz Raja has been fired; please begin applauding me. I’ve played Test cricket on this pitch, and it pains me to see individuals from outside cricket try to act like a Messiah. I’m sure their motivations aren’t cricket-related. These people are here to be in the spotlight.”

The PSL 8 will begin on February 13 with the inaugural match between the reigning champions Lahore Qalandars and the 2021 winners Multan Sultans at the Multan Cricket Stadium following the opening ceremony.

11 games will be played in Rawalpindi, 9 in each of Karachi, Lahore, and Multan, and 5 in Rawalpindi.
